Worship

The center of our life together is our celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 4:00 each Sunday afternoon. The word “eucharist” comes from the Greek word for “thanksgiving.” When we gather for worship, we’re gathering to celebrate our life together in Jesus Christ, to return thanks for all God has given us, and to be further formed for our lives as disciples. Our worship service is followed by a home-cooked meal — come and be fed!

And, by the way, it can be intimidating to walk into a worship service if you’ve never been before. If that’s how you’re feeling, you’re not alone! You are invited to contact the Chaplain, the Rev. Sarah Ball-Damberg (sarahbd@episcopalatduke.org, 919.286.0624), if you’d like to know more before you come (What’s a Holy Eucharist? What’s the Book of Common Prayer? How do Episcopalians do things and why? What can I expect?) You’re also welcome and encouraged to come on in – you can be sure of a hospitable welcome. We’ll be glad to see you.
